About Grafton Hall
Grafton Hall was built in 1968/1969
by three churches and contiues to be administered by
the Presbyterian Methodist Congregational Foundation
Inc. as a non-profit making trust. We aim to provide
a caring and academically supportive community for student
residents from the University of Auckland. During the
University vacation, from mid November to mid February,
we offer accommodation to the general public and conference
and sports groups.
We are centrally situated and located
within easy walking distance from Auckland Domain, which
has many sports fields and the museum, Newmarket shopping
centre, the University and Auckland CBD.
There is also a gym complex and swimming
pool 5 minutes walk from Grafton Hall, as well as restaurants,
movie theatre and shopping in Newmarket.
We have 5 permanent staff members who
live on site and who have been associated with Grafton
Hall for 5 years or more. We have our own domestic staff
who work in the kitchen and do the cleaning. Students
and guests alike always comment on the "home away from
home atmosphere" and the friendly staff.

"We wish to record our thanks to you and
the staff at Grafton Hall in regard to the
hospitality our families enjoyed when we
all came to celebrate our wedding on the
14 December 2002. In particular I would
like to acknowledge the work of your management
team led by Greg Oates.
The thoroughly
professional approach to facilitating our
every need, catering and accommodation,
in hosting so many people from around New
Zealand and overseas was a great comfort
to us. A number of these people have told
us that their stay was wonderful".
